Windscreen rain repellent: the hydrophobic sealant that changes driving in the rain

Driving in pouring rain is stressful: drops that persist, night reflections, windscreen wipers at maximum speed not being enough. A hydrophobic windscreen sealant applied in 10 minutes solves almost everything: water, instead of spreading on the glass, forms droplets that roll away as early as 50 km/h.

How a chemical rain repellent works

Sealants like MA-FRA Rain Speed contain nano-technological siloxane polymers that chemically bind to the silica of the glass creating an invisible hydrophobic layer: the water contact angle goes from 30° (normal glass) to over 100°, and drops no longer adhere.

1. Deep cleaning: wash the windscreen with Glass Cleaner to remove insects, dirt and oily residue

3. Drying: perfectly dry glass, check with grazing light
4. Application: pour 3-4 drops of Rain Speed on a microfibre applicator cloth
5. Distribute in overlapping circular movements over the entire windscreen
6. Wait 3-5 minutes for complete opacification
7. Excess removal: polish with clean microfibre cloth until total transparency
8. Let cure 2-3 hours before using the car in the rain

Duration and maintenance

An application lasts 3-6 months depending on wiper use (they mechanically wear the layer) and washes (acid products degrade it). For maximum result, reapply every 4 months and use pH-neutral shampoos in washes.

Common mistakes
