How to Polish Car Bodywork by Hand: Step-by-Step Guide
Surface scratches, swirl marks and paint dullness can be eliminated by hand without a professional polisher. With the MA-FRA three-step polish system, the result is professional — even in your garage on a single afternoon.
When to polish
- Dull paint that has lost its shine
- Circular swirl marks from incorrect washing
- Light scratches only visible in raking light
- Paint or tar stains
If the scratch exposes primer or metal, polishing is not enough: bodywork repair is needed.
The three-step system
- Step 1 — MA-FRA Scratch & Swirls Remover: removes scratches, oxidation and deep defects
- Step 2 — MA-FRA Cleaner Wax: smooths remaining imperfections and begins protection
- Step 3 — MA-FRA Glazing Wax: enhances colour depth, mirror effect and lasting protection
The MA-FRA Polish Kit Step 1-2-3 includes all three already matched. They can also be bought separately depending on the level of work needed.
How to apply
- Wash the car first — polishing on dirt causes scratches
- Always work in shade or in a garage
- Apply each step with the MA-FRA Foam Pad on 50x50cm sections using linear movements
- Allow the product to thin down until nearly transparent, then remove with MA-FRA All Round Ultimate
- Complete all three steps on the entire bodywork before moving to the next step
Maintenance after polishing
MA-FRA Last Touch Express 2.0 is the quick liquid wax to apply after every wash: it maintains the shine and delays the return of dullness.
