How to Clean Alloy Wheels: Professional Complete Guide
Alloy wheels get dirty quickly from brake dust — iron particles that stick and oxidise on the hot surfaces. Regular shampoo does not remove them. Two products are needed, working in different and complementary ways.
The two essential products
- MA-FRA Wheel & Tyre Cleaner with active foam — dissolves grease, mud and limescale; the foam clings vertically to the wheels and rinses off taking everything with it. Also available in 4500ml for intensive or professional use
- MA-FRA Fallout Iron Remover — iron decontaminant that reacts chemically with iron particles: it turns purple on contact with deposits, showing exactly where it is working. Available in 500ml and 1L
The professional procedure
- Pre-rinse with plenty of water to remove mud and coarse dirt
- Apply the Wheel & Tyre Cleaner over the entire wheel; leave for 2–3 minutes
- Without rinsing, apply the Fallout Iron Remover; wait for the colour change (2–3 min)
- Work into difficult areas (spokes, hubs, inner rim) with a soft brush
- Thorough rinse: the dissolved deposits wash away with the water
Recommended frequency
- Wheel & Tyre Cleaner: at every weekly wash for maintenance
- Fallout Iron Remover: every 1–2 months or when dark stains appear that resist normal washing
