How to Remove Insects from Car Bodywork Without Scratching the Paint
Every motorway journey in spring and summer leaves insects and flies stuck to the bonnet, windscreen and wheels. The longer you wait, the harder they become: the organic fluids from insects react with the clear coat and damage it chemically. The rule: remove within 24–48 hours.
The mistake to never make
Scraping with fingernails, a dry sponge or the windscreen wiper drags the dry residue across the paint creating scratches. Before any mechanical action, the insects must be softened chemically.
MA-FRA products for insect removal
- MA-FRA Killer — penetrates the dried residue and dissolves it; removal with a soft cloth with no risk to the paint. Also available as the Killer Kit with matching microfibre cloth
- MA-FRA Maniac Line Insect Remover — concentrated high-performance formula for insects that have been on the bodywork for a long time
- MA-FRA Pulimoscerini — poured into the windscreen washer reservoir: every wiper activation dissolves the flies automatically
The correct procedure
- Wet the area with water to rehydrate the dry residues
- Apply MA-FRA Killer and leave for 1–2 minutes without rubbing
- Dab — do not drag — with the MA-FRA All Round Ultimate using linear movements
- Rinse and check: if residues remain, repeat with the Maniac Line version
Prevention
A waxed bodywork is much easier to clean: residues cannot penetrate the clear coat. After insect removal, apply MA-FRA Last Touch Express 2.0 for a protective layer that makes the next treatment easier.
